Blackout (Blocked Dates)
Blackouts are unbookable date ranges. They are useful for closures, maintenance, private events, etc.
They affect both the frontend (dates are not shown as available) and the backend (you cannot create bookings on those dates).
Types of Blackouts
- Global – applies to all rooms.
- Per-room – applies only to the specific room selected.
If both global and per-room blackouts exist for the same period, both block availability (the effect is cumulative).
Adding a Global Blackout
Go to the plugin’s Blackout page and fill out Add global blackout:
- Start date – start date (inclusive).
- End date – end date (inclusive).
- Note – internal reminder (optional).
Confirm by clicking Add blackout.
Global Blackout List
In the Global blackouts table you’ll find:
- ID – unique identifier.
- Dates – range (e.g., 2025-08-10 → 2025-08-20).
- Note – optional note.
- Actions – Delete to remove the blackout.
Adding a Per-Room Blackout
From the Per room tab (in the Blackout section):
- Room – select the room to which you want to assign a blackout.
- Start date – start date (inclusive).
- End date – end date (inclusive).
- Note – reminder (optional).
Save to apply the block only to that room.
Behavior and Priority
- Dates in blackout cannot be booked either from the frontend or backend.
- Per-room blackouts do not override global ones — if either applies, the date remains unavailable.
- Existing bookings that fall on new blackout dates are not modified automatically; you may cancel or reschedule them manually.
Examples of Use
- Seasonal closure: create a global blackout (e.g., 01/11 → 15/12).
- Room maintenance: create a per-room blackout only for the affected room.
- Private event: create a global blackout limited to the event days.
Tips
- Dates are inclusive: if you set Start = 10/08 and End = 12/08, 10–11–12 will be blocked.
- For recurring blocks (e.g., every first Monday of the month), add multiple targeted blackouts.
- For variable minimum stays, use Seasonal Rates with
min_nights_override— blackouts are meant to forbid bookings, not limit their length.
Available Actions
- Create (global or per-room) with Start/End/Note.
- Delete from the list (using the Delete icon).
- (Edit is not available): if you make a mistake, delete and recreate the correct blackout.
