Before updating
Simple B&B Rental stores reservation data in custom database tables, so:
- Updating will not delete any reservations or settings
- You do NOT need to deactivate or remove the old plugin first
- Updating is safe and designed to be quick
(If you modified the plugin files manually — which is strongly discouraged — make a backup first.)
How to update the plugin (recommended method)
This is the standard and safest update procedure.
- Download the latest ZIP From your Simple B&B Rental account or Gumroad.
- In WordPress, go to: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and select the new ZIP file
- WordPress will detect that the plugin already exists. You will see a message like: “This plugin is already installed. Do you want to replace it with the uploaded version?”
- Click: “Replace current with uploaded”
WordPress will:
- remove the old plugin files
- install the new version
- keep all your reservations, rooms, prices, and settings intact
Done! After installation, visit the plugin’s pages to confirm everything works as expected (it will!).
Will my settings or reservations be lost?
No. All data — rooms, bookings, seasonal prices, guest information — stays in the database. Replacing the ZIP updates only the plugin files, not your content.
Can I update from any previous version?
Yes. You can always upgrade directly, even if you skipped one or more versions.
The update process will automatically run any required database migrations.
If something goes wrong (rare)
In extremely rare cases where WordPress blocks the upload due to permissions:
- Deactivate the plugin
- Re-upload the ZIP
- Reactivate it
Your data will remain intact.
